The little house with a big idea
Una pequeña casa cambia la manera de vivir de una familia.
Nora enjoys living close to her parents, but the family's small home presents a daily problem: the same table is used for homework, paid work and meals. Whenever someone needs it, the others must move piles of books and papers. One Saturday, her father arrives with three wooden boxes that a neighbour no longer needs. Nora suggests attaching them to the wall to create shelves. Her parents make sure the wall can support the weight, and together they plan where each box should go. After the shelves are installed, Nora organises her belongings by purpose. She keeps books within easy reach, stores pencils in a cup and places drawings in a folder. The family also introduces a simple rule: before starting a new activity, they clear the table for the next person. Within a week, the difference is noticeable. The room has not grown, but it feels less crowded. Nora's mother can begin work without moving schoolbooks, while the family can sit down for dinner without first sorting through a mess. A visiting friend assumes that the room has been renovated. Nora explains that they have mainly changed how they use the space. She has discovered that solving a problem does not always require buying something new. Inspired by the result, the family decides to make one small improvement each month. Their next project is a place to hang bags and coats near the entrance.
