The shop with no prices
Una tienda demuestra que compartir también tiene valor.
A shop without prices seems impossible to Amir. When he visits the new community space near his home, however, he discovers a simple idea: residents can donate objects they no longer use, while others are welcome to take them. The volunteer at the counter explains that the project aims to reduce waste and make everyday items more accessible. Donations are checked for safety and condition before being placed on the shelves. Not everything can be accepted, and the volunteers have limited space. Amir is drawn to a book about marine life, but he hesitates to take it without offering anything in return. The volunteer reassures him that the shop is not based on direct exchanges. Someone who needs an item today might contribute something months later—or might never be able to donate at all. At home, Amir finds a complete puzzle that has been sitting untouched in a cupboard. He brings it to the shop, where a younger child soon chooses it with obvious delight. The moment changes Amir's understanding of value. The puzzle had become almost worthless to him, yet it still had the power to entertain someone else. The same principle applies to the book he takes home. He begins telling his classmates about the project, although he also learns that volunteers need help sorting donations and keeping the space organised. The shop works because people contribute time and care, not simply because the objects are free.
