The map in the bottle
Una botella trae un mapa y una sorpresa.
Nora expects an ordinary Sunday walk, but a green bottle washed onto the beach changes her plans. Inside it, she finds a carefully folded map marked with three trees and a red star. Her father agrees to help investigate, provided they remain on public paths and disturb nothing along the shore. The drawing leads them to an old wall near a group of trees. Nora searches for a hidden chest, imagining the gold coins she has seen in adventure films. Eventually, she spots a small metal container tucked behind a loose stone. The contents are surprising: faded photographs, a handwritten date and a request to remember the coastline before it changed. One photograph shows fishing boats beside a field that is now a car park. Another shows a narrow path where a busy road runs today. Nora is initially disappointed. However, her father suggests asking older residents whether they recognise the scenes. Her grandmother immediately identifies several buildings and remembers a fisherman who used to repair nets near the harbour. Inspired, Nora begins collecting memories and comparing them with modern photographs. She plans to create a display at school about how the town has developed. The map has led her to something more valuable than a forgotten fortune. It has revealed that familiar places contain histories which can vanish unless someone takes the time to preserve them.
