The garden that wakes up at night

Un jardín muestra su vida secreta después del atardecer.

Amir thinks he knows his aunt's garden well. He helps care for the plants and can recognise several butterflies that visit during the day. However, an evening walk reveals a different community of living things. His aunt points out a pale flower that remained closed in the afternoon. Now its petals are open, and it releases a noticeable scent. She explains that some plants flower at night, when their potential pollinators are active. A moth soon arrives and drinks nectar before moving to another flower. Amir is surprised to learn that moths can be important pollinators. Not every moth visits flowers, and not every night-blooming plant depends on moths, but these relationships are part of a much larger network of life. As they continue along the path, they spot a beetle and hear an owl calling from the trees. His aunt asks him to use the torch carefully so they do not disturb the animals. When they turn it off, Amir becomes more aware of the sounds around him. The following day, he makes a simple chart comparing the visitors he has seen in daylight and after sunset. The garden has not changed location, yet his understanding of it has grown. He realises that observing nature at a different time can reveal things that are easy to overlook.
