The clock that stopped at six

Un reloj parado guarda una sorpresa familiar.

Eva has spent many afternoons in her grandfather's repair shop, but she has never understood why one blue clock is always left untouched. Its hands have remained at six o'clock for as long as she can remember. When she finally asks about it, her grandfather explains that it once stood in her grandmother's kitchen. Every morning, her grandmother checked the time before leaving for work. After she died, the clock stopped, and he could not bring himself to repair it. Eva suggests that they try together. He agrees, although he warns her that the mechanism is delicate. They remove the back, examine the tiny wheels and discover a damaged piece. Her grandfather finds a suitable replacement among the spare parts he has collected over the years. Eva holds a lamp while he works. When he turns the key, the clock stays silent for several seconds. Then it begins to tick. The familiar sound surprises him. He remembers sitting at the kitchen table while his wife prepared tea. Eva notices that he is smiling and crying at the same time. Rather than returning the clock to the shelf, he gives it to Eva. She promises to keep it safe. That evening, she places it beside a family photograph. She has not met her grandmother in the way she wishes she could, but she now has a small connection to her daily life.
